• Weary bones and happy hearts

    Hi all,

We are back to normality now after the European tour - it was the best tour yet and we met some beautiful people along the way. Cheers to Frontal Noize for booking it for us. My guitar is broken again, but other than that we got through it pretty much unscathed. Having said that, Will did smash his leg into the stage in Dresden (hilarious) and by Jena I was in massive back and rib pain. Anyway, the hospitality we experienced was far beyond what we’re used to in England and it made for a much more relaxed and cost-effective tour. We also played in the corner of a restaurant which was an odd new experience for us (apologies if we ruined your dinner) – oh, and I got engaged which was brilliant too. And only one vomit incident (the sink had no pipes attached, not my fault). Thanks to everyone who came to a gig, put us on, put us up and helped in any way – we will be back when we can.

We played with many great bands along the way – I won’t mention them all but you should certainly check out The Samuel Jackson Five (http://www.facebook.com/thesamueljacksonfive), Eschar(http://www.facebook.com/escharband), Artwon Artown Artnow(http://www.facebook.com/artwonartownartnow), Sleepmakeswaves(http://www.facebook.com/sleepmakeswaves) and Kovlo (http://www.facebook.com/KOVLO).

There are lots more photos of us playing and pratting around on our facebook (http://condense.it/2×4) – if anyone has any photos or videos we haven’t got hold of yet they’d be much appreciated…..

Our next show will be on Saturday 9th June at The Urban Bar, London with The Narrows and Yokozuna. FB event here: http://www.facebook.com/events/216841675090438/  It will be our last show for a while as we want to hide ourselves away and write for a while before we crack on with recording the second album.

Again, thank you for your support of this band – it really does fuel the fire. If you feel like helping us out some more please ‘share’ our facebook page onto your timeline and link people to this site. In return we will make the best sounding album we possibly can.

    Cheers,

Chris - Flies Are Spies From Hell.

  • New EP out on Field Records

    Posted on by chrisc

    Hey all,

Our new ‘Nerves Still Beating’ EP will be released on 27th Feb 2012 through Field Records (distro by Cargo). We’re glad to be putting out a record alongside great bands we’ve gigged with such as UpCDownC, What The Blood Revealed, Alright The Captain, Kasper Rosa and Maybeshewill.

    The track listing is:

    1. Nerves Still Beating

    2. Axe to the Root

    3. Wallow in Threat – Remixed by Court of Hidden Faces aka Andy from our old friends and touring buddies Monsters Build Mean Robots.

    4. Great Deadener – Remixed by Dan from Gunning For Tamar, a great Oxford band we’ve played with and who recently joined us on the Frontal Noize bookings roster.

    5. King Sly –  Remixed by Tim Waterfield aka Karhide.

Artwork by Colour Doomed – check out his phenomenal work here http://samedwin.blogspot.com/

Tasty Fanzine gave the EP 8/10 (full review here  http://condense.it/cp4 ) and Echoes & Dust said this: ‘Ordinarily I might have considered this a two track EP with three bonus remixes. It’s not. It’s a great post rock EP of just under half an hour that is full of variety, experimentation and progress. There should be more like this’ (full review here http://condense.it/dp4 )

You can listen to a track and order the CD here http://condense.it/ep4
